Making the Tough Decisions WITHOUT Raising Taxes

  • Passed a Balanced No Tax Increase Budget for 2011
  • Ended the Fiscal Year with a $26.6 million surplus after inheriting a $171 million deficit
  • Eliminated more than $171 million in wasteful spending
  • Removed more than $485 million in unnecessary tax burdens off the backs of working families and seniors

Started Reform of Nassau’s Broken Property Assessment System

  • Began REAL Reform of the Broken Property Assessment System
  • Enacted 4 Year Assessment Freeze for Residential properties
  • Amended assessment rules to correct Commercial and Residential tax certioris faster
  • Ended Nassau’s habit of borrowing for tax refunds

Infrastructure Improvements

  • Secured millions in funding for the long-neglected Bay Park Sewage Treatment Plant to upgrade, enhance, and improve its facilities
  • Upgraded Mill Road traffic signals to interface with computerized Nassau traffic control system
  • Jump-started Branch Boulevard Sidewalk Restoration Project
  • Began repavement of Peninsula Boulevard and also upgraded traffic signal technologies

Pro-Environmental Record

  • Enhanced our community’s open space by opposing the sale of vacant, county-owned parkland in Inwood
  • Rehabilitating Grant Park ballfields and including artificial turf
  • Invested $6 million in Bay Park for athletic facility funding, with an additional 50-50 funding split with Molloy College for the largest single park investment made by Nassau in recent history
  • Created a $5 million Sustainable Green Energy Loan Program fund to help working families and seniors convert their homes to energy efficient residences
  • Took immediate action to preserve Doxy Brook in North Woodmere

  • Provide diligent and responsive constituent services to ALL Legislative District 7 residents
  • Advocate on behalf of the working families and seniors of our community in Mineola but also to other governmental entities
